ECE 110 Lab Syllabus - Spring 2009
Grading Policy
10 Labs : 12 pts each x 10 = 120 pts (individual grade)
Design Challenge - Car = 40 pts (team grade)
Design Challenge - Report = 20 pts (individual grade)
Effort* = 20 pts (individual grade)
TOTAL = 200 pts
*Effort includes (but not limited to) coming to lab on time, cleaning up station after each lab and simply putting effort.
Lab Report Policy
All labs will be handed out in class this semester - all labs will be done using these handouts. Students should purchase a 3-ring binder to hold the lab manuals together. Each student must submit his or her own lab report and grades will be assigned individually. However, students are strongly encouraged to discuss their answers with their partners and seek advice from the TA whenever needed. Labs must be done in PEN only. Students should purchase a 3-ring binder to hold the lab manuals together. The final report for the design challenge must be typewritten.
Locker Policy
Each group in ECE 110 lab will be assigned a locker containing components needed for the design challenge. Lockers will be assigned in mid semester and each locker will contain a gray toolbox which has a protoboard, a module kit, a wire kit and a bundle of sensor wires. All these items must be returned back to the TAs at the end of the semester. In addition, students are NOT ALLOWED to keep shared lab items in their lockers. Shared lab items include BNC/banana plug wires, alligator clips, test boxes, SENSOR BARS, sensors, test strip, battery, car(!) and anything not assigned to the students to begin with. Lockers are checked regularly by the TAs and any violation of the above rule will be recorded.
Lab Schedule (Subject to modification. Changes, if made, will be announced in lab.
