About Supervised Study Sessions
What are Supervised Study Sessions?
Supervised Study Sessions are optional, peer led problem solving sessions. ECE 110 students are given the opportunity to join Supervised Study Sessions at the beginning of every semester. Students are organized into permanent learning teams, each with four to eight students. Each team meets weekly for ninety minutes under the supervision of a peer leader, who is a graduate or undergraduate teaching assistant, or an undergraduate volunteer.
Where and when are the Supervised Study Sessions?
Each SSS learning team meets in an assigned classroom in Everitt Lab every Sunday at 3:30 pm, 7:00 pm, or 8:30 pm.
What do we do at the Sessions?
The sessions are neither reviews of the lectures nor discussion sections. Instead, at each session, students work together with a peer leader to solve difficult problems selected from past ECE 110 exams. The problems provide practice for the exams and enhance conceptual understanding of lecture material. The leader serves as a facilitator who coordinates the team's efforts.
Do we have to go to the Sessions?
No, the sessions are completely optional: they are not required, and they are not graded. Once you join a learning team, however, we ask you to attend as many sessions as possible. Students benefit most from regular attendance. The teams work best when everyone attends and participates.
Will joining SSS increase my tuition?
No, the sessions are voluntary and are made available to you at no cost.
