Announcements
- (5/11/2009) The conflict exam will be at 1 pm on Thurs. May 14th in Prof. Levinson's office (BI 2009).
- (5/06/2009) The exam will be held at 8 am on Fri. May 15th in the lecture hall. You may bring one handwritten sheet of notes. There will be six questions. The first will be composed of 8 short answer questions covering material from the first half of the course. The others will cover natural language processing (hint: read 15.1-15.2), perceptrons, pattern recognition, Markov decision processes (hint: see notes), and philosophical issues (hint: read chapters 1, 16, and Turing paper).

- (5/06/2009) Lydia Majure will hold two more office hours this semester, 5/7 and 5/12.
- (3/06/2009) The answer sheet for HW2 contains addional answers to
questions not on the assignment. For problem 1b the answer is
given as 1c and for part 1c the answer is given in 1e. For the
DP problem 1d, the answer is given in part 1f.
- (3/03/2009) Lydia Majure will not hold office hours on 3/5.
- (3/03/2009) The midterm exam will be given in class on Tuesday March 10. There will be
three questions. One on graph searching, one on formal logic, and one on
probability theory. Some problems will touch on more than one of the topics.
Please review your class notes carefully and all the relevant sections of the
text as listed in the syllabus. You may wish to pay special attention to
sections 2.3, 4.1, 5.2, 9.3, and 14.2.
